Get ready for an unforgettable celebration of culture, community, and freedom. Join us for the 6th Annual Newton Juneteenth Celebration—a vibrant, high-energy event with a brand-new format that now includes a live concert and movie screening!
This year we embrace “Joyful Resistance” in appreciating the beauty and richness of African-American culture, heritage and tradition. All residents and visitors are welcome to help celebrate 161 years since the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Enjoy a high-energy, culturally relevant concert from 6PM to 8PM, followed by a family movie under the stars.
You can look forward to:
🎤 A party atmosphere hosted by DJ Firestarta from 3 PM
🎶 Live performances that move your spirit
🛍️ Unique finds sold by local artisans & craft vendors
🍴 Two food trucks serving up delicious Caribbean flavors: Reggae Food and Gourmet Kreyol
🎤 A Summer Concert Series event featuring a band (TBC, watch this space!) from 6–8 PM
🎬 A soulful, family-friendly film (TBC, watch this space!) to close out the night under the summer sky
At 6PM, get on the dance floor for a high-energy concert from The GRV, whose passion for music and a diverse set list spanning Pop, Rock, Soul, Funk, R&B, Hip Hop, Top 40 and favorites from every era will keep the celebration going. Then, at 8PM, pull up a chair or spread out a blanket and watch the film “Black Panther.”
Bring your friends, your family, and your joy—this is more than an event, it’s a celebration of resilience, unity, and community pride. Follow the evolving details of the event on Eventbrite or Facebook, and please help to spread the word far and wide!
