It’s a bicentennial celebration!

200 years ago, the Hyde Center’s namesake was born. Let’s celebrate! Join us at 7PM on September 5 for cupcakes.

Mayor James F.C. Hyde, for whom the Hyde School was named—and subsequently the Hyde Community Center—was a fruit nurseryman and horticulturalist who led the push to adopt a City charter in 1873. He was inaugurated in January 1874 as the first Mayor of the City of Newton. He was born on July 26, 1825.
